What we offer

Counselling,
on your terms.

Sessions take place by secure video, wherever you are in the UK. You choose your counsellor, and you can change your mind.

01

Individual counselling

One to one, with a counsellor you choose yourself.

Regular one-to-one sessions by video, at a time that fits around your week. You read each counsellor's profile — their training, the way they work, the languages they speak — and decide who you would like to talk to, rather than being assigned to whoever is free.

  • You choose your counsellor from their profile, not from a waiting list
  • Sessions by secure video, wherever you are in the UK
  • Counsellors working in a range of languages
  • Change counsellor at any time if the fit is not right

02

Couples counselling

For two people trying to understand each other better.

Sessions for couples, with particular experience of relationships where the two people come from different cultures, speak different first languages, or are working out how to build a life between more than one country. Being understood without having to explain your background first makes a real difference.

  • Counsellors experienced in cross-cultural relationships
  • Sessions you both join by video, from the same room or from different countries
  • Space for both people, and for what is difficult to say in a second language

03

Low-cost counselling

Reduced-fee sessions, so cost is not the reason you go without.

A limited number of reduced-fee places for people in the UK who could not otherwise afford to see anyone. Some of these sessions are offered by counsellors who are still in training and working towards the supervised hours their professional body requires. We always tell you before you book whether the counsellor is in training, who supervises them, and what that means for you.

  • Reduced fees, with a limited number of places at any one time
  • Some places are with counsellors in training, working under qualified supervision
  • You are told which before you book — never afterwards

Getting started

What happens
after you write.

01

Tell us what you are looking for

A short enquiry — what you would like help with, and anything that matters to you about who you talk to, such as language or background.

02

We suggest counsellors who fit

We come back to you with counsellors whose training and experience match what you have told us, and you read their profiles in your own time.

03

You choose, and you begin

You pick the person you would like to talk to and arrange a first session with them. If the fit is not right, you can change.

Fees

How payment
will work.

Counselling through Ostwalden is paid for in blocks of sessions rather than by a rolling monthly subscription, so there is nothing that renews on its own and nothing to remember to cancel.

We will always give you the full fee in writing — the price per session, the total for the block, when payment is due, how to cancel and what happens to sessions you have not used — before you agree to anything. Nothing is taken from you on this website.

Booking is not open yet. We are not taking payments or making bookings through this website at the moment. Send us an enquiry and we will tell you where things stand and what it would cost.

If money is the reason you would otherwise go without, please say so when you write. Our low-cost places exist for exactly that.

Counselling is a talking therapy. It is not medical treatment, it is not a diagnosis, and it does not replace the care of your GP or the NHS. If you are already under the care of a doctor or a mental health team, please keep them involved.
